Official World-Wide Postage Stamp Collection for Beijing Olympics
Authorized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Beijing Organizing Committee
for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, Collection for this year’s Games in Beijing
were issued by China National Philatelic Corporation. This is the largest stamp collection
with relation to the Olympic Games in the history of the Olympic movement.
The collection has four albums -- the first two were issued this April and May. The collection includes
more than 100 countries’ stamps celebrating the XXIX Olympiad, China Post's stamps for the Games
and140 colorano silk cachets about the Olympic culture and precious gold-gilded stamps.
The collected stamps cover a wide range of topics, including the images of excellent athletes,
classic Olympic buildings, Olympic posters, Olympic torches and medals, as well as
anecdotes in the history of Olympic movement. It also introduces each
of the Games from 1896 to 2004. It’s like an encyclopedia about the Olympic Games.
The Olympic stamps collection has a limited circulation of 30,000 sets in the world.
Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Juan Antonio Samaranch,
IOC Honorary President, have expressed their congratulations in the preface of the collection.
