What would the British do without vinegar on their fish and chips? Despite the cries of laughter and derision from continental friends, turning to disgust as we put a generous dousing of vinegar onto one of the nation's favourite dishes, there's a sound reason for doing so, and it's not just to make the chips taste better.
This is an easy read and full of fun info about various vinegars and uses. I had never thought about adding vinegar to my puppy's water for health benefits, even though I drink water that way. And there must be a bazillion uses for household cleaning that I would never have thought of. It also contains recipes for various foods. I'm glad I picked this one up at Barnes & Noble!
First of all, love the historical overview- very interesting. When I was growing up I remember my mother always talking about the versatility of white vinegar, baking soda and ammonia for around the house chores. She was a child growing up during The Great Depression.Very cost effective, environmentally safe, efficient, and gets the job well done. No need for perfumery to get a dirty job cleaned up - there is always the use of essential oils to help with the fragrance factor. You can cut down on the use of Brand Names in this arena and use them elsewhere for quality assurance with other merchandise catergories. A great book and great gift with many useful surprises for the practical minded !
