Opis	Ska, with its jumpy, galloping beat, may not strike most people as the most likely soundtrack for romance. And indeed, there's not much on this compilation that would work very well as make-out music. But there sure are lots of great romantically themed ska songs here, all of which are previously unreleased. Venice Shoreline Chris does himself proud with a midtempo cover of the Toasters' "Thrill Me Up" (which appears again at the end of the disc in a superb dub version); Bim Skala Bim skank it up Boston-style with the perfectly acceptable "Line to You" (which appears again near the end of the disc in a mediocre dub version). There's a Paul Simon cover (a terrible version of "Cecilia" by a band called Critical Mass), a great instrumental version of the Bob Marley classic "Love and Affection" by the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble and a very cute paean to portly women everywhere by Mark Foggo's Skasters ("Fat girl, could you ever love me/Love me at all?"). Proceed with caution: this disc may be more fun than is legal in your state. ~ Rick Anderson
