The Hit-Machine from Rio de la Plata! The second Übersee-Release is going into depth where the
compilation just gave a vague idea of things yet to come.
„No Pares! Non Stop“ goes straight into your heart! Buenos Aires unites the rich and the poor within
it’s city limits – Europe and Latin-America clash together right here! Diego Armando Maradonna, Evita
and hyperinflation! This cultural background is far beyond the European imagination. That exactly is
the fuel for Un Kuartito’s attitude driven engine! They’ve been on Epic/Sony Music for the first two albums
but they have always managed to stay musically and ideologically independent.
They’ve played shows all over Latin-America (Chile, Mexico, USA, Argentina, Uruguay etc.) with
Actitud Maria Marta, Todos Tus Muertos, Los Tinteros, Manos De Phillippi, Karamelo Santo etc. Un
Kuartito has recorded with Andrew Blanco de King Changó, Willy Cooper Caligari de Todos Tus Muertos
y Lumumba, Guillermo Piccolini de Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Martino de Karamelo Santo – looking
at all the names it’s not exaggerating even a bit to say: they’ve recorded and played with some of the
most important Latin-American musicians! Adding onto that Un Kuartito has played with several international
stars – the most important one definitely being Manu Chao!
Argentinean clash of cultures. Styles like Ska, Punk and Reggae get the extra spiciness and variety from the typical Latino – and sometimes
also Indian – sounds.
An exotic melting pot of hot percussion, fabulous horns and irresistible melodies create their extremely
powerful sound. Speaking of horns: pretty impressive to have the legendary Jamaican 70-year-old
Rico Rodriguez on trombone! Rico has worked with anyone imaginable – who doesn’t admire him for
his great solo on “A Message To You Rudy“? No wonder the legend Linton Kwesi Johnson himself is
quoted calling him the “walking history of black music“ about Rico. Whose dancing legs aren’t moving
autonomously to that sound must be extremely cold blooded.
Summary:
“No Pares! Non Stop” lifts your spirit on a cold and dark European winter‘s day. Un Kuartito convince
with their diverse and straight to the point sound.
