In this retelling of the classic Greek myth, Tiresia is a beautiful Brazilian transsexual, living illegally with her brother in Paris.
Coveted by Terranova, a poet and an aesthete, he likens her to the perfect rose and so kidnaps her to keep as his own. Deprived of her daily hormones, Tiresia reverts before Terranova's very eyes. Angered by his helplessness he blinds her and leaves her for dead in the countryside. Discovered and cared for by a country girl, Tiresia develops a gift for premonition and is persecuted by the parish priest as a result.
Directed by Bertrand Bonello (The Pornographer), using two actors in the lead role provides an insightful and uniquely modernised interpretation of the myth. The Ciné Lumiere collection is a series of contemporary fi lms from France, the spiritual home of cinema. Each of the fi lms in this collection share the French cinematic values of innovation and provocation.Based on a classic Greek myth, Tiresia, a transsexual is kidnapped by Terranova. Without her medication Terisia starts to change back. Terranova attacks her and blinds her and abandons her in the open country where a girl finds Terisia and nurses her back to health. While she is recovering Terisia discovers she has the gift of premonition.
