This is the 50-part Chinese mini series, condensed into a 3-hour film, starring Chan Kwok Kwan in the lead role, not the Bruce Le film of the same name.
Certainly Chan is one of the best Bruce Lee look-a-likes out there, but that is the only postive thing going for this film. It is totally anachronistic, with things completely out of perspective. The story is confusing, due to a number of flash-backs, but it's not clear where these start and end, because Bruce looks the same throughout. For example, he's shown as an adult when he starts learning kung fu, rather than in his early teens and he looks exactly the same from start to finish.
Bruce is beaten up a number of times throughout the film, when it is well known that after starting Wing Chun in 1953 (at the age of 13), he never again lost a fight. His kung fu master is shown as the typical Chinese old man, complete with long white beard - not Yip Man as we know him. In fact, you could find fault with just about every scene, as it bears no resemblance to what really happened.
The English dubbing is awful, taking you back to the martial arts films of the 70s! No attempt is even made to try and make Chan sound like Bruce Lee (with his very distinct Hong Kong accent).
If you're looking for an insight into Bruce Lee, avoid this at all costs.
