Opis:

Mimo ukrytej rywalizacji kobiety połączyła zadziwiająca przyjaźń. Caitlin pozwala na znajomość Very z jej mężem, chociaż wie, że to może okazać się niebezpieczne. Tymczasem Vera poślubia swojego oddanego wielbiciela Williama Killicka, ale wciąż nie może zapomnieć o miłości do Dylana. Chciałaby z nim być nawet, jeśli miałoby to oznaczać zdradzenie przyjaciółki oraz męża. Kiedy Wiliam jest za granicą, Vera wraca z przyjaciółmi do Walii. Set during the Second World War, The Edge Of Love is, at heart, the story of a love triangle. In the middle of it is the poet Dylan Thomas (played here by Matthew Rhys), and itâ??s he who finds himself in love with two women. On one hand, thereâ??s his childhood sweetheart Vera Phillips (Keira Knightley), and on the other thereâ??s his wife, Caitlin Thomas (Sienna Miller). Throw in Caitlinâ??s husband, William (Cillian Murphy), and you have the basis of a complicated period romantic drama. The best parts of The Edge Of Love prove to be in the build up, with the strong production values really allowed director John Maybury to build up his characters, and get across the setting of a war-torn London. Boasting good performances from the likes of Keira Knightley and Matthew Rhys, itâ??s hard not to get pulled into the filmâ??s set-up. That said, the pay-off of The Edge Of Love isnâ??t quite as satisfying, and the second half of the film lacks the punch youâ??d expect it to have. Itâ??s hard to pinpoint quite why it doesnâ??t gel, but as major dramatic events ensue, youâ??re simply not drawn into them as much as youâ??d hope. Perhaps a bit more fleshing out of the characters would have helped. However, thereâ??s still a lot to admire and enjoy, and The Edge Of Love boasts some excellent visuals, and neat directorial touches. And even though it doesnâ??t fulfill its potential, itâ??s still a fine, eminently watchable drama. It just could have been that little bit more. -- Jon Foster
The passion and pathos of legendary poet Dylan Thomas is told through the lives of these two women. Vera Phillips (Keira Knightley) and Dylan (Matthew Rhys) were childhood sweethearts in their homeland Wales. Ten years later the two meet again in war-time London. Shes working as a singer whilst hes churning out propaganda scripts for the government in aid of the war effort. The two feel the thunderbolt once more, but Thomas is now married to the adventurous Caitlin (Sienna Miller) and Vera is embarking on a romance with the intense but loyal William (Cillian Murphy). Despite their love-rival status the women form a strong friendship and when William goes to war the remaining trio form a fierce but unavoidably complicated bond. Broken promises, betrayal and the shadow of war provide a vivid setting for THE EDGE OF LOVE.
