At the beginning of her career, in the early 1950s, Renata Tebaldi interpreted some little-known operas, the live recordings of which are a less familiar, though just as important, part of her discography. This Fernando Cortez by Gaspare Spontini, recorded live in Naples in December 1951 and here completely re-mastered, was one of her most peculiar experiences, in which the young Italian soprano immediately displayed her great talent. The program also features a series of arias recorded by Tebaldi shortly before, in the spring of 1950.
