Opis:
Historia mężczyzny który przez 5 lat myślał jak zabić swojego najlepszego przyjaciela
As the Civil War draws to a close, two Confederate soldiers, Jerry Brewster (Thomas Hunter) and Ken Seagall (Nando Gazzolo) find themselves holding a sizeable amount of cash that was meant for a payroll. The temptation is too strong, but when Seagall tricks Brewster into giving him the money, the latter is caught and sent to prison. Years later, Brewster is released and wanting revenge he goes in search of his old friend, now a very wealthy rancher. The Hills Run Red is one of the earliest examples of what would become known as the Spaghetti Western.
The Hills Run Red [DVD] (DVD);Dating from the beginning of the spaghetti Western boom in 1966, The Hills Run Red is more of a Western made in Italy than a spaghetti Western, but while it may not be a classic its a perfectly enjoyable and undemanding little oater that never rises above the formulaic but entertains for an hour-and-a-half if youre not expecting too much. Thomas Hunter is the reb who comes out of serving five years in a Yankee prison to find that his best friend has not only brought himself a huge ranch and is viciously building an empire of his own with the $600,000 that was supposed to go to buying cannons for the Confederacy but also let his wife die and wants to arrange a family reunion so, with a little help from Dan Duryeas unfortunately named Winny Getz (even he winces when saying it) who believes in `distributive justice, sets out for revenge. There are no great surprises even if the bodycount is a little higher than usual in a finale that sees Hunter and the otherwise underused Duryea take on overwhelming odds in an abandoned town with nary a scratch between them, but it does have a terrific Ennio Morricone score to help drive things along.;Thomas Hunter is an underwhelming leading man, alternately wildly overacting moments of angst and rage as he loses his rag like a surly teenager or delivering his quieter lines with all the interest of a man without a watch being asked the time while waiting for an overdue bus in the rain. Small wonder that after quickly disappearing in bit parts he went on to become the screenwriter of The Final Countdown and Italian Death Wish knockoff The "Human" Factor. At times its hard to tell whether the always reliable Dan Duryea, looking at times uncannily like an elderly Dana Andrews, is dubbed or just having problems with his own voice that month, and he isnt given enough to do for much of the film (the UK DVD packaging curiously ignores him completely). Still, there is one, er, outstanding performance that cant be overlooked as Henry Silva, clearly regretting holding out for more money for that Sergio Leone movie he was offered a couple of years earlier, goes wildly over the top even by his standards, not just over-enunciating whole words but even individual letters - "Senoorit-aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!" - and making a five course meal of lines like "Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Aym not goweng to keel yew, strangah. Yewre a champi-yon, an yew dohn keel champi-yons, yew race dem! Yewre coming weeve me and yewre hyred fohr top dallah! Bravo!!!! Ya-oooo!;Optimums UK DVD is the US version with the English soundtrack only (the film was shot in English), complete with awkward sound edit on the closing title song and bowlderized opening credits. Indeed, like many spaghetti and paella Westerns, its almost pointless having credits on the film since so many names have been changed to make it look more like an American film - including Ennio Morricone, who becomes Leo Nichols, and writer Piero Regnoli (who is apparently billed as Mario Pierotti on the Italian version) becomes Dean Craig and you have to wonder just who decided to rename Oscar-nominated (for co-writing Bitter Rice) director Carlo Lizzani as Lee W. Beaver on the US prints! No extras, but a decent 2.35:1 widescreen transfer.
