Great All-Mountain / Enduro Frame

!!! NEW !!!

Knolly Endorphin 2010

Color: white
[powder coated at Spectrum Powderworks]

Size: L [19,5"]

No rear shock!

[the frame accepts rear shock size: 7.875" x 2.25" i.e. 200mm x 56mm]
mounting hardware comes with the frame

This is a burly all mountain frame. Born and built in Vancouver, BC.
Basically it's an extremely well made, extremely stiff frame with a patented four by 4 linkage suspension design
that is a strong climber both due to a suspension that greatly reduces pedal bob (more than most)
and because it allows the rear wheel to move BACK and up, not just up, thereby losing less momentum over bumps.
Notice the retail value of this frame! $2350 (or more in places). Knolly is a boutique brand producing small production runs.
They are currently updating the frame so it is currently unavailable.
The update is, simply an evolutionary one (ISCG tabs, 142mm rear, tapered headtube, etc.).
Note the perfect reviews below show, this is an awesome bike. I could not find a negative review of this frame.

Frame was hand built in Canada using top notch components [see below].

According to many reviewers it is one of the best Enduro/All Mountain frame of all time!

The highest quality possible!

Four by 4 Linkage

The Four by 4 Linkage came out of our design goals to design a frame that had the pedaling,
braking and handling characteristics that we wanted,
while at the same time eliminating the annoyances that bugged us with current frame designs.

The Four by 4 Linkage isn't just a secondary four bar linkage — it is a formula on how to design and build a full suspension frame
that incorporates rear wheel path, seat tube placement, shock placement, seat clearance (for those technical moves),
rear end lateral rigidity, climbing geometry and other aspects into a frame's design.

Benefits of Four by 4 Linkage

The Four by 4 Linkage allows us the freedom to solve these problems:

  • Stand over height and continuous seat tube:
by keeping longer stroke shocks “horizontal”, we can keep the top tube height low.
By using a continuous seat tube with a fully adjustable seat post,
when the seat is completely lowered a rider can straddle the seat comfortably

  • Seat position:
When the seat is extended in a climbing position,
the lay-back seat tube intersects the location of a normal 72 or 73 degree seat tube angle,
    ensuring proper climbing geometry.
When lowered, the seat is slightly more forwards giving more room for rear tire clearance
as well as making it easier to get behind the saddle when riding technical terrain.

  • Rear shock and leverage ratios:
by keeping the shock roughly “horizontal” on our longer travel frames, long stroke shocks can be used,
ensuring our leverage ratios are well below 3:1.
Lower leverage ratios increase shock sensitivity, bottom out resistance and reliability.
The secondary linkage also isolates the shock from side loading and places it in a location free from tire roost,
    further increasing its reliability.

  • Rear shock accessibility:
having the rear shock accessible in the front triangle means that it's quick to adjust,
tune, maintain and remove the rear shock.

  • High lateral rigidity:
by keeping all wheel path suspension components at the back of the frame
(i.e. not being forced to bring pivots forward of the seat tube),
we can keep linkage elements as short as possible, increasing their lateral rigidity.

  • Tire clearance:
by using our lay back seat tube design so that tires won't hit the back of the seat tube (or bottom of the seat)
when under full compression, our frames feature excellent tire clearance.

  • Neutral braking:
Knolly frames are active under braking forces ensuring maximum traction in difficult sections

  • Neutral pedaling:
our wheel paths are tailored so that our frames have efficient pedaling characteristics.

  • Minimal chain growth ensures that our frames are free from annoying pedal feed back.

Fasteners

We use only high end name brand fasteners ensuring that our fastener products are consistent and reliable.
All Fasteners are stainless steel and where required, super hard grade 12.9 plated steel.
We do this to ensure that the fasteners don't corrode and don't bend.

We use M8 bolts for all of our shock mounting hardware on our heavier duty frames, again from a strength perspective.
And, wherever possible, we use commonly available metric fasteners so that they are easily replaced if damaged or lost.

.

Pivots

All pivots feature German INA brand bearings
and most use precision machined stainless steel shaft spacers to achieve tight tolerances.
INA brand bearings feature some of the most consistent race diameters available,
especially important in locations under high lateral load like suspension rocker linkages.
Their consistent diameters mean less chance of bearings wearing out their “seats”
(the bore that the bearing sits in) resulting in less down time for you the owner.

The two main frame pivots use a pair of INA double row angular contact bearings combined with
oversized axles resulting in superior lateral rigidity and high load carrying capability.
Pivot bearings are spaced as wide as possible to further increase rear end stiffness.

.

Axles

Our axles and shoulder bushings are CNC turned out of 2024 aluminum for high strength.
Rear thru axles feature a stepped outer diameter which guarantees precision where the axle supports the hub bearings.
Chain stay pivot axles and rear axles are deeply broached for large 8mm hex keys to make them highly resistant to stripping.

.

Machining

CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) manufacturing is something that we take great pride in.
We routinely machine parts to within 0.001" (0.02mm) tolerance;
for bearing seats often to a very precise 0.00025" (0.006mm).

Why would we spend the time and energy to do this?
Quite simply, it allows us to improve the functionality and reliability of our products.

.

Welding

All our frames are welded in North America to the highest standards.
Welding is probably the single most important part of frame construction —
technique can make or break the best designs.
In keeping with our design philosophies we use only the best available bicycle frame welders,
ensuring that welding is not only performed correctly but is aesthetically pleasing as well.
