Professor Trance is Frank Natale, Elain Eskanasi and Pim Kilian. Together
they have created this powerful body of "contemporary ritual" music inspired
by the long dances of the North American Indians whose purpose was to evoke
deep healing trances and visions while honoring the earth and the natural cycles
of life. This double CD contains six long trance pieces each averaging between
20 to 30 minutes. Primal rhythms and shamanic influences pulse with organic
ecstasy, immersing the initiate into trance-tribal consciousness. Although the
music is inspired by American Indian dances, other influences from ritual
African to Brazilian trance can be heard.
Medicine Trance consists of two discs of very long trance dance tracks.
They are based on healing and other ritual dances of indigenous cultures
worldwide. These tracks of up to 30 minutes are used sparingly behind the
bandana. Very powerful. This body of music was inspired by the long dances
of the North American Indians whose dances would often last for three to five
days. The long dances appeared monotonous to observers, however, they
were not meant to entertain. Their purpose was to evoke deep healing trances
and visions. Long dances honored the cycle of life, the sun, animals and
victory. The music of Medicine Trance is designed to evoke these
same healing visions.
