Nagrywarka Hauppauge HD nagrywa filmy z odbiorników telewizji satelitarnej lub kablowej oraz innych źródeł o wysokiej rozdzielczości na dysku twardym komputera w skompresowanym formacie H.264 Nagrywarka Hauppauge HD jest podłączona do odbiornika za pomocą wejść YPbPr (Komponent), S-Video lub Composite Video (zespolony sygnał wizji) i umożliwia nagrywanie w przedziałach rozdzielczości od Standard Definition (480i) do High Definition (1080i) z przepływnością 1MBit/s do 13 MBit/s.
