The Getac S400 is a robust notebook with certified protection against water splashes, dust and impact, according to IP5X and military MIL-STD-810G standards. Getac's flagship among semi-rugged laptops is designed for difficult surroundings and challenging requirements in field work, production, construction and logistics. The sturdy KryptoShell housing, boasting sealed input and output connectors, offers comprehensive protection against damage from drops and outside influences.
Inside, the notebook features an Intel Core i5-520M processor with 2.4 GHz with Intel Turbo-Boost technology or, as you may choose, an Intel Core i3-350M with 2.26 GHz. The graphics output is ensured by Intel's GMA or optional NVIDIA's GeForce 310M card. Sufficient performance and memory is secured with its standard 2 GB RAM (extendable to max. 8 GB) and 320 GB hard drive. However, for mobile applications in the field or in transportation and logistics, it is recommended to opt for the vibration resistant 80 GB solid state drive.
The 35.6 cm (14'') monitor provides adequate lighting and has a matt screen with special reflection-minimizing effect (QuadraClear), which makes it usable in sunlight. If needed, the display is available with High-Bright LCD technology emitting 700 nits. With this option users additionally get a multi-touch capable surface that functions accurately even with dirty fingers or while wearing gloves. The display has a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, which offers enough space for a variety of applications.
The S400 is available with specifications adapted to operation inside or outside as needed. Windows 7 Professional is pre-installed standard. Therefore, a wide range of applications opens up to you and you can be sure that integration into existing infrastructures and systems becomes child's play. Especially in transportation, its easy handling, high ergonomics and access to known tools are highly practical. In particular for unrestrained use in outdoor applications, the S400 can be equipped with an optional low temperature module allowing operation at a surrounding temperature as low as -15 °C – which is the lowest operating temperature of its class.
Users will value the freely programmable hot keys with which they can switch between main programs and required operation modes at the simple press of a button. It even has an emergency button that is able to make an emergency call automatically. Thanks to its illuminated keyboard with dimmable backlight, working in dark surroundings is no problem at all. With the keyboard's full-sized keys, data entry is carried out ergonomically and consequently very efficiently. Depending in the version, the laptop disposes of an integrated 1.3 mega-pixel webcam, a GPS receiver, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WWAN connectivity, with the option of connecting an external aerial (for use in vehicles). A DVD drive, dual PCMCIA port and multiple card reader are on board as well. Perfect security in terms of access and transfer of sensitive data are ensured with an integrated smart card reader and a fingerprint reader that is incorporated in the touch pad.
The Getac S400 is the ideal device for mobile applications in the field or on construction sites – or generally for every field of application that does not imperatively need a fully rugged computer. The wide range of accessories available helps to adapt the laptop to many different requirements and multiplies its functionality many times over. |
