Led by the excellent bugle and trumpet player Nicolas Genest since 1986, “Lékéré” is a record-fleuve, full of life, carrying along the musical influences of its originator and of the numerous persons taking part in this incredible project. More than 30 musicians, and important ones at that (Bojan Z, Cyril Atef, Louis Winsberg…), innumerable hours of recording, of re-recording, samples gleaned during Nicolas' rips and with the passing years. Lékéré is also a result of chance, sprung from these meetings, from these trips and from friendship. Record of sharings, in which traditional African and Japanese musics, tango and jazz mix up with the voices, and the traditional or electronic instruments, Lékéré also shows the vitality and the creativity of its initiator. Above all, it proves, if necessary (?), how the mix of cultures and traditions can be delightful and exciting.
