Ljubica Maric died in 2003. A musician, composer, philosopher, writer and theorist, she was one of the twentieth century’s most creative spirits. Although little-known outside her native Serbia, her work is regarded by those who know it as some of the most innovative of the mid-twentieth century. Maric was greatly interested in the folk music of her native Serbia and in the ancient music of the Orthodox Christian Chuch, influences which give her music a unique flavour.
