Laura Nyro Time And Love: The Essential Masters on Limited Numbered Edition Gold CD From Audio Fidelity
Mastered by Legendary Engineer Steve Hoffman: Incredible Sonics
Definitive Greatest Hits Collection From Virtuosic Singer-Songwriter
Focuses on Nyro's Early (and Best) Period: Every Track But One Recorded Before 1970
Laura Nyro defies definition or comparison. She is where the female singer/songwriter movement begins. The late composer didn't merge genres, she removed them. Here is where jazz meets pop meets country meets Broadway meets gospel. In every way, Time and Love: The Essential Masters is an impressive retrospective as Nyro has ever received. The album compiles Nyro's distinctive renditions of sixteen of her most famous songs, as well as some lesser known selections from her songbook. Only one of the recordings was made after 1970, at which point she was only 25 years old and retired from music for many years.
The level of depth, insight, and intensity that emerged from a woman who was so young speaks to her incredible talent. Every song is sung with joy, passion and pure belief. Nyro sang because it was in her soul to do so. She carries you along, celebrating her gifts as writer, pianist, and vocalist. She wrote from her heart on her own recordings, and she sang from there, too. In accordance with that spirit, this collection presents her 1968 original version of "Sweet Blindness"; most collections use the inferior 1976 version.
Featuring stellar mastering by iconic engineer Steve Hoffman, Audio Fidelity's 24K + Gold edition of this Laura Nyro's Time And Love bests all prior editions and is the best-sounding Nyro document available. The audiophile label specializes in deluxe packaging with see-through slip cases and beautifully reproduced original graphics. As always, the original master tape was played back on a specially constructed vintage tube playback deck, with the analog masters put through the new "Kensei Audio Transformer," a process that adds even more life to the music.
