COLLECTOR’S EDITION ROYAL WEDDING DOLLS
A host of renowned British fashion and design leaders have come together to exclusively dress and accessorise the Arklu™ Princess Catherine Wedding Doll and the Arklu™ Prince William Wedding Doll.
Each COLLECTOR’S EDITION of the Princess Catherine Wedding Doll and Prince William Doll is individually numbered to reflect the limited production of 10,000.
The instantly recognisable and, some might say, delightfully kitsch wedding dolls pay homage to the stunning best-of-British outfits that so impressed the world when HRH Prince William of Wales married Catherine “Kate” Middleton.
For every unit sold, Arklu™ will donate £1 to the RNLI, to reflect the fact that the Royal Couple’s first joint official public engagement was the launch of a lifeboat at the RNLI base at Trearddur Bay, in Anglesey, North Wales.
Princess Catherine Wedding Doll: British tradition meets cutting-edge modernity
Every item of clothing and accessory for the Arklu™ Princess Catherine Wedding Doll has been individually designed to showcase the very best of British style, combining tradition with sophisticated modernity.
The wedding dress: The Arklu™ Princess Catherine Wedding Doll dress design is inspired by, and pays homage to, the original wedding dress. This is a dress that “epitomises timeless British craftsmanship, combining tradition and modernity with a distinctive, contemporary and feminine character”.
Earrings: The Princess Catherine Doll wears stunning ear-rings in the style of those created for Catherine Middleton’s wedding day by leading boutique jeweller Robinson Pelham.
Tiara: Just as eye-catching as the original, the tiara has been designed by Dower & Hall, the creators of exceptional British designer jewellery.
Engagement ring: The Princess Catherine Wedding Doll’s ring is inspired by Kate Middleton’s engagement ring, which was originally Princess Diana’s. The doll’s Io Ring boasts a replica purple Amethyst central stone set amongst 24 brilliant-cut replica diamante cubic zirconias. It has been created by award-winning British jewellery designer Babette Wasserman.
Wedding ring: A kilogram of pure Clogau Welsh gold was donated to The Royal Family in 1923 and has since been used to create generations of Royal Family wedding rings, including those of The Queen, The Queen Mother and Princess Diana. The marriage between Prince William and Catherine ensured the 88-year continuation of this tradition by choosing a pure Welsh gold wedding band. The doll’s gold-coloured wedding band evokes this tradition.
Bridal bouquet: Judith Blacklock has created a bridal bouquet for the Princess Catherine Wedding Doll. The bouquet offers another British touch as it is evocative of the delicate and understated shield-shaped wired bouquet of seasonal British flowers, especially lily-of-the-valley, carried by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Judith is one of the most highly regarded figures in the world of flowers and floristry and was Fox TV’s Royal Wedding ‘Flower Pundit’. As well as running her famous Flower School, Judith has arranged flowers for celebrities, Prime Ministers and Royalty.
‘Something Blue’ knickers: The award-winning Gilda & Pearl creates vintage-inspired lingerie to love. The “Something Blue” knickers are a sweet and lovely child-like version and feature the acclaimed British designer’s signature ribbons and attention to detail.
Shoes: Luxury British shoe designer Aruna Seth has created the perfect shoes with replica crystal-embellished heels. From red carpet royalty; the likes of Sophia Bush, Paris Hilton and Giuliana Rancic to such real life members of Britain’s royal family as Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, luminaries have always looked like living dolls whenever they step into the spotlight in Aruna Seth shoes. Now the high-profile footwear designer’s high heels add star style to Arklu’s Princess Catherine Wedding Doll.
Hair: HRH Catherine’s bridal hair is inspired by the Demi-Chignon hairstyle created by the Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa salon team; “an up-do style, which combines a classic bridal look with a regal, couture finish”.
Make-up: Louise Constad is the make-up artist of choice for many of the world’s most beautiful women and high-profile celebrities, so who better to add the finishing touches to the beautiful Princess Catherine Wedding Doll?
Inner Box Packaging Print: In recognition of the truly British wedding of HRH Prince William to Catherine Middleton, the inner print on the Princess Catherine Wedding Doll box is of Crowns and Coronets Print, by Graham & Brown, an innovative global wall coverings company with a strong British heritage.
Prince William Wedding Doll: Traditional dress with a twist of contemporary styling
Uniform: In the style of the specially commissioned scarlet Irish Guards colonel’s uniform created for HRH Prince William of Wales by military tailors Kashket & Partners. The Irish Guards suit reflects the fact that Prince William was recently made a Colonel of the Regiment of the Irish Guards. Her Majesty The Queen is the Colonel in Chief. The Kashket Group is a tailoring company with history dating back to 1655 on London’s, The Strand supplied uniforms to Admiral Nelson and both of the armies at the Battle of Gettysburg. The attention to detail even extends to the replica Garter sash and star, Royal Air Force “wings” and Golden Jubilee medal. The Doll wears a replica Forage Cap, evocative of that created by Patey Hats for HRH Prince William.
Socks: Modern Savile Row tailor Richard James is known for the clean, slim cut of its tailoring and its bold use of colour. The winner of the Bespoke Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards, Richard James’s contemporary take on classic British style and attention to detail and quality has earned it a large and loyal global following. The black socks with shocking pink stripes are a very English, humourously eccentric and dandy-ish touch and they add a surprising splash of colour to an otherwise formal look. Shoes
Shoes: Jeffery-West are award-winning designers of infamous British shoes. Combining the best of British craftsmanship, quality, and pedigree with innovation and imagination, Jeffery-West shoes have a distinctive, unique style with a renowned red lining. In keeping with recent press reports that Prince William marks the soles of his shoes with his initial to avoid mixing them up with those of Prince Harry, a “W” is stamped into the sole of each Prince William Doll shoe.
