Just Dance 4 jest już czwartą częścią bardzo popularnej serii gier tanecznych, która narodziła się w 2009 roku na konsoli Wii. Producentem tytułu jest niezmiennie koncern Ubisoft oraz należące do niego europejskie studia deweloperskie, z Francji, Wielkiej Brytanii i Rumunii. Tytuł jest już drugim przedstawicielem cyklu goszczącym na Xboksie 360 i PlayStation 3, obsługujących grafikę w wysokich rozdzielczościach, a także jedną z pierwszych gier, które trafiły na konsolę Wii U. Just Dance 4 wykorzystuje kontroler ruchu właściwy dla każdej z tych platform – Wiimote, PlayStation Move, Kinect.
Model rozgrywki powinien być już dobrze znany wszyskim amatorom gatunku, ponieważ nie uległ żadnej znaczącej ewolucji. W czasie zabawy gracze wykonują przed telewizorami taneczne triki i figury, w rytm popularnych przebojów. Na ekranie pojawiają się sylwetki tancerzy, których ruchy musimy jak najdokładniej naśladować, za co jesteśmy nagradzani specjalnymi punktami. Nowością w grze jest możliwość przeprowadzania „bitew” tanecznych ze znajomymi. Każdy utwór muzyczny posiada też sześć możliwych do odblokowania „misji”, które wymagają zrealizowania wyznaczonych przez twórców celów, takich jak zdobycie konkretnej liczby punktów, bądź bezbłędne wykonanie danej figury.
Na ścieżkę dźwiękową gry składa się ponad 40 zróżnicowanych utworów, stanowiących przekrój przez najpopularniejsze gatunki współczesnej muzyki pop, takie jak dance, RnB czy hip hop.
