Hailing from Leamington Spa, UK, The Joyce McKinney Experience were one of the finest dual female fronted melodic hardcore / pop punk bands of the late 1980's, whose recordings remain greats of their era and the original vinyl versions are now highly collectable.

The Joyce McKinney Experience are a hugely collectAble melodic hardcore band from Leamington Spa in the Midlands, not the most obvious place for punk music but there you go. Female fronted and with all the punky spunk of the riot grrrl movement the band's original vinyl releases where these 45 tracks are culled from are now extremely collectible and someone legendary in the genre. I can't say I'd ever heard the band until today but I'm a sucker for shouty girl punk, always have been, always will be and these lads and lasses do it very well indeed. If you ever want to get a riot started then you've got more than enough ammunition on these two discs. Rockin' stuff if ever I heard it - one for fans of Fugazi, Black Flag and probably the classic Kill Rock Stars releases, but don't expect cuteness.

The next instalment of the acclaimed Boss Tuneage Retro Series, "Love Songs For Kirk" comprises a mammoth 45 tracks, including the band full recorded output by the band - CD1 features their "Joyce Offspring" LP (Meantime Records 1988), the "Boring Rock" 7"EP (Heath Robinson 1989) and "Cuddle This" 12"EP (Decoy Records 1990) and the bands solitary John Peel Session from 1988 (previously unreleased) . CD2 contains all previously unreleased tracks - a mammoth 21 in total - taken from demos recorded in 1987 and 1992. The album comes with a big booklet including liner notes from the band, plus many never seen before photos and all lyrics.
