This is one of my favourite John Coltrane albums and contains my all-time favourite Coltrane 'tune' in the 14-minute epic that is Out Of This World (and it is, I can assure you). The album was recorded in 1962 and is the first to feature the classic Coltrane quartet of the great man with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and the inestimable Elvin Jones. The album also features a wonderful, typically soulful Coltrane rendition of Soul Eyes, and a marvellously jaunty version of Frank Loesser's The Inch Worm. A great follow-up/companion piece to the earlier two outstanding Coltrane albums Ole and Giant Steps, this is a very strong Coltrane offering
