This book is about the histories of eight different houses, ranging in date from c.1250 to c.1865, which form part of the historic building collection of the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum in Singleton, West Sussex. The author has cleverly interwoven information about the houses themselves (many of which may be visited at the museum) with much more general background about the people who lived in the buildings over the centuries.
