Paranoid Park [Blu-ray] [2007] (Blu-ray);I typically like Gus Van Sants films. Gerry, Elephant, and My Own Private Idaho are fantastic.;I dont even know that this should be classified as a film, to be perfectly honest. If so, pacing no longer applies to film. What we have hear is a very simple story broken apart by long, slow ultra-artistic shots of skateboarders and teenagers walking along doing nothing at all. In slow motion.;Its like Gus Van Sant thought, "That technique worked well in Elephant, so Ill just reuse it in this other film, only focus even longer on really bad teenage actors doing uninteresting, monotonous things. Or doing nothing at all." At least in Elephant, we knew the background story enough so the long shots of teenagers were actually somewhat significant to the story.;I turned Paranoid Park off after 30 minutes. Id had enough.
