The Calm (Demo)Four Oakland/East Bay veterans formed Eldopa in 1995 in an attempt to conjure up the essence of true hardcore with flashes of metal in the spirit of Neurosis’s Pain Of Mind, classic Discharge and the sheer force of Reign in Blood-era Slayer. Formed by Andy Branton (bass), Greg Valencia (vocals, guitar), Brain Ward (vocals, guitar) and Sean Tyler (drums) Eldopa released their debut 1332 CD/LP on Oakland-based East Bay Menace Records, which was recorded by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Melvins, Mr. Bungle). Members of Eldopa came from such seminal hardcore/punk bands as Econochrist, Samiam and Grimple. Some of the members went on to form current bands such as Watch Them Die (Century Media) and Kalas - Tee Pee Records
