The second album from french experimentalist Patrice Duisit is schizophrenic. At its best, uninhibited and entertaining, but requiring a lot of patience on the part of listener. Creating its musical structure from a wild array of found sounds, buzzing generators, creaking doors, and chirping birds.

De mange machine is definitely not for all taste. Starting out slow and quiet, Gourmandise continues in that vein for a long time, possibly too long, before assaulting listeners in a barrage of sound that tapers off into a sinister rhythm. It's a good pay-off. From the low scratching and moody hums of "Pheromone" to the IDM-style quality of "La puce à L'oreille," this album is best suited to fans of Nurse With Wound, Coil, and Download. You know who you are.
