This decorative and informative first edition work illustrated the history of French garden design. The work features 254 pages illustrated throughout featuring several full page and smaller phototype plates, plans, photographs, drawings and facsimiles. There are 40 plates in total with blank verso with one color design plate. L’Art des Jardins was an influential work on the history of garden design documenting the formal garden to the early Renaissance period garden. Many of the pages feature uncut edges.
