Dantalion hails from Galicia in Spain and delivers their third album with ‘All Roads Lead To Death’, their first one for Xtreem Music. The previous two albums were released through Det Germanske Folket and were well appreciated by my colleagues. Apparently the band still had to do one more album for Det Germanske Folket but since they didn’t hear anything from this label anymore to switched to Xtreem Music. The band sounds very Scandinavian on ‘All Roads Lead To Death’, more specifically Swedish. I’m not sure whether the fact that Dan Swano mastered this album added to that fact but I hear quite a few influences of bands like Dark Funeral and Marduk. So, aggressive and fast black metal with a nose for melody. The vocals are quite sick too and remind me of Atilla Czihar when he recorded the Mayhem classic ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’, hence a bit over the top. When you look at the originality Dantalion might not be the most interesting band but when you simply want well-played black metal they sure deserve your attention.
