Following on from JSPCD7726 CAJUN EARLY RECORDINGS, here are another 100 tracks of that unique and extraordinarily infectious music that is the quintessential sound of the South Louisiana prairies and bayous. Cajun music was first recorded in 1928 and flourished strongly during the '30s and '40s until it almost died out in the mid '50s. Subsequent folk festivals and societies revived interest in the music and today it is again a vibrant sub-genre of the county music scene. This 4CD set concentrates on the classic Cajun years, featuring such historic exponents of the music as J B Fuselier & His Merrymakers, Leo Soileau & His Rhythm Boys, the Hackberry Ramblers, Nathan Abshire, Happy Fats & His Rayne-Bo Ramblers, McGhee & Ardoin and many more. Extensive notes by Pat Harrison tell the story with artists biographies and discographical detail.
