This revised edition of Sovereign Service, has been published to mark 175 years of the Soldiers' and Airmen's Scripture Readers Association. In it the original author, Brigadier Ian Dobbie, has included the changes that have taken place within the Armed Forces for the Crown and the zones of conflict to which they have been deployed, over the last 25 years. This updated volume records the faithfulness of the Association to our calling, to present the truths and promises of Jesus Christ to young men and women of the Army & Royal Air Force and has set out an honest account of how we have sought to do our duty to God & Monarch over the last 175 years.

Brigadier Ian Dobbie was commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1958, the third consecutive generation of his family to be so. He became chairman of the SASRA Council in 1991.
