Four Ports Per Module
The DS74 peripheral communication module expands the DS Series host module peripheral communications to four individual channels per module.

User Interface/Configuration
The DS74 has four EIA-232 ports which use 8-pin modular connectors. Use the DS71 host communication module to select serial configuration for baud rate, word size, stop bits and parity for each port of the DS74.

Port Selection Procedure
There are two methods to select a DS74 port through the DS71 host communications module. Users can send either an ASCII character string or they can send an attention character string to invoke a menu selection. To disconnect, users can simply select another DS74 port, or they can send the disconnect sequence. The disconnect sequence consists of the port select code followed by a carriage Rreturn or line feed. When disconnected the user simply logs out.
