Double-bill of adventures featuring the nocturnal crime-fighter. In 'Batman Begins' (2005), in the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego - Batman - a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high-tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city. In 'Batman - Gotham Knight' (2008), six chronological, animated stories of the caped crusader chart Batman's progression from gifted amateur to fully-fledged crime-avenger. 'Have I Got a Story for You' tells how a group of kids are variously affected by their encounters with Batman. In 'Crossfire', Gotham City's police force are forced to conquer their distrust of the Dark Knight when they come under fire from the mob. 'Field Test' focusses on the vast array of weaponry and gadgets at Batman's disposal as he fights injustice, while 'In Darkness Dwells' has the caped-crusader locking horns with the sewer dwelling 'Killer Croc' and 'The Scarecrow'. 'Working Through Pain' explores Bruce Wayne's gruelling training regime, instigated by a mysterious Indian woman named Cassandra, while the final chapter, 'Deadshot', draws the chapters to a conclusion, with Batman having to stop a ruthlessly efficient assassin with few moral qualms.

Batman Begins: In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful. He returns to Gotham and, with the help of trusted butler Alfred (a scene-stealing Michael Caine) unveils his alter-ego: Batman is a masked crusader who will use strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city...

Director Christopher Nolan deliberately exorcises the camp and grand guignol of the previous movies and TV series. This is truly a gritty and brooding exploration of the beginnings of the Dark Knight, a faithful vision of Bob Kane's anti-hero from DC Comics.

Batman: Gotham Knight: Bridging the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and directed by Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), Batman: Gotham Knight taps into the work of three, pioneering anime studios (Production I.G., Studio 4C, and Madhouse) and five noted anime directors (Shojiro Nishimi, Futoshi Higashide, Hiroshi Morioka, Yasuhiro Aoki, and Toshiyuki Kubooka) to create a thrilling anthology of six interrelated, animated shorts based on stories by Josh Olson (A History of Violence), David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series), Greg Rucka (Whiteout), Jordan Goldberg (The Dark Knight), and Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets).
