This great DVD contains four classic California punk shows originally released on VHS (Flipside Video Vols. 1 and 6). Two early punk bands, the Weirdos (in 1986) and the Dickies (in 1985) are paired with two hardcore bands, Circle Jerks and Bad Religion (both in 1984). A multiple-camera setup is used for each show and the loud sound seems to be from the soundboard, preserving the chaotic shows in all their ragged glory. The bands blaze through their sets as the stage divers dance among them and sometimes grab the mikes. This 126 minute DVD features raw, vintage live performances by Bad Religion, The Circle Jerks, The Weirdos, and The Dickies. These performances, originally released on VHS as "Best Of Flipside Volume 1" and "Best Of Flipside Volume 6," capture all the aggressiveness and energy of the L.A. punk rock scene in the mid-eighties. The DVD also features bonus live tracks from Dead Kennedy's and D.O.A. Among the classic tracks included are Bad Religion's "Politics", Circle Jerks' "Coup D'etat", Weirdos' "We Got The Neutron Bomb" and Dickies' "You Drive Me Ape."California's FLIPSIDE fanzine is one of those rare publications that not only reports on and follows a cultural phenomenon, but actually helped in its creation. "This is Flipside s greatest videos. Any Flipside fan should really buy this DVD. THis is great and I can watch it over and over again. This is as great as Bad Religion. Wait, never mind, Bad Religion is 10 stars. They are great. Circle jerks proved that biscuits, the drummer, was insane. Keith Morris showed his young energy that you cant see now days. Weirdos wernt that great, but they are one of the legendry los angeles that you cant see anymore.
