This is the 1796 campaign in Archduke Charles' own words, translated into French and annotated by Jomini, then translated into English. It is the work that provoked Jourdan to write his account of the campaign. The Archduke is surprisingly critical of his own mistakes and makes no bones about those made by Jourdan and Moreau. It provides an excellent perspective of the 1796 campaign from the Austrian side.
