About the Author:
Michaela Appel studied Indiology, Tibetology, Thai and Ethnology with special emphasis on Indonesia, completing her doctorate on Javanese philosophy and the Javanese concept of humanity. Since 1981 she has made numerous trips to Indonesia. A native Englishman, Michael Dunn has lived and worked in Japan for over thirty years. Specializing in the art and culture of Japan, he has become an internationally recognised advisor on East Asian art to major museums and collections. He has also authored numerous publications on Japanese art.
