Grafton's style is distinctly fresh combining elements of shaker and swedish style to achieve a timeless look. Her palette is predominantly cream with touches of colour - red, blue, green - to add depth and interest. As well as colour Grafton looks at the use of texture and the importance of furniture in giving a scheme structure. Much of the book is set in Grafton's own home and gives guidance on how to redecorate from scratch looking at space, light, bugdet and style to name a few. Grafton also shows how to change the look of your home without having to get rid of everything you own to achieve a professional finish explaining how to incorporate the features of your home and any existing furnishings. The pictures are inspiring, but unlike many "coffee table" books, the text is informative and helpful without being over simplistic. I would recommend this book to anyone interesting in understanding the elements of design to achieve a relaxed yet sophisticated look for their home.
