Creative Darkroom a book of photographs, all of which wei made for the exhibition wall. The pictures have one thing in common: they have all been consciously manipulated away from the scene the camera originally saw, using a variety of means. The purpose of this book is primarily to encourage your own original thinking and to provide a stimulus for new ideas. You will probably learn some new creative techniques as well.
Manipulated images are not necessarily complicated and they don't always need a darkroom. Many of the pictures included in this book could have been made by any photographer with only the minimum of equipment. The starting point can be a black and white negative, a colour transparency or a colour print. It is even possible to produce imaginative photographic images starting from totally non-photographic origins.
There is no doubt that a reasonably well-equipped darkroom is useful and you will certainly need one if you wish to explore all th special effects described in this book.
