ADQ1 is the ultimate tool for wirelessly connecting a professional pilot’s ECS PC to the onboard AIS pilot plug. It uses industry standard WLAN 802.11b/g to make wireless transmittal of AIS data to any WLAN equipped computer very easy.
Its advanced design automatically compensates for frequently encountered non-standard wiring of the ship’s pilot plug. Within seconds of physical connection, the ADQ1 senses the active Tx pin and begins transmitting data to the pilot’s laptop. With extreme sensitivity, it detects serial signals as weak as 0.25v, extracting the real AIS data from background noise. An Rx LED indicates when AIS data is detected.
ADQ1 was developed in compliance with specifications delivered by the Dutch Pilot Organization, well known around the world for proactively implementing technological advances in portable pilot aids. Smart batteries are used to provide: a 12-hour life, re-charging while in navigational use, and precise indication of battery level.
In combination with any portable pilot electronic navigation chart (ENC) software package (e.g. Qastor from QPS), the ADQ1 is a compact, lightweight solution for any pilot. All AIS data is available for display and calculation purposes, including ship’s gyro, dGPS position and rate of turn (RoT) with fully integrated AIS installations. The pilot does not need to carry anything more than the ADQ1 and a standard notebook computer running the preferred ENC software.
