Pierwszy tom z nowej serii Tertium stanowi pokłosie konferencji na temat humoru w językoznawstwie i folklorze, jaka odbyła się w Szekszárd na Węgrzech w roku 2007.
Zawiera 14 najlepszych artykułów z tej konferencji, autorstwa badaczy mających związki kulturowe z 7 krajami: Bułgarią, Chorwacją, Estonią, Polską, Stanami Zjednoczonymi, Węgrami i Włochami.
Tematami artykułów są m.in. humor a językoznawstwo kognitywne, humor w nauczaniu języków, humor audiowizualny, eufemizmy, antyprzysłowia, humor w karykaturze, czy mechanizmy humoru werbalnego. W rezultacie czytelnik otrzymuje ciekawy, zróżnicowany obraz humoru w kulturze.
"This new series is intended to attract international humour research. We intend to offer a forum which would bring together different cultural perspectives on humour through the medium of English as lingua franca. We particularly seek monograph studies on humour traditions and humour research conducted in specific countries and/or cultures".
"The volume grew from seven panels on humour research presented in Hungary in 2007 at the International Symposium Humour and Linguistics/Folklore organized at the Illyes Gyula College of Education in Hungary (Szekszard, 14-16 September 2007), e.g. Humour and Cognitive Linguistics, Humour and Language Teaching. The volume contains 14 articles (nine in English and five in German), discussing various aspects of humour and linguistics by 15 contributors who represent a variety of cultural and language backgrounds (Hungary, Poland, USA, Croatia, Italy, Estonia and Bulgaria)".
