Towarzystwo Badań Parapsychologicznych została założona na początku 1882 roku w celu dokonania zorganizowane i systematyczne próby zbadania różnego rodzaju domniemanego lub spornych zjawisk, takich jak hipnoza, telepatia, objawień przypadkowe i halucynacje innych, a tak zwane " zjawiska fizyczne "spirytualizmu, który aieprimd facie niewytłumaczalna na dowolnym powszechnie uznanych hipotezy.
Celem Towarzystwa jest podejście tych różnych problemów, bez uprzedzeń i uprzedzenie wszelkiego rodzaju, w tym samym duchu dokładne i unimpassioned dochodzenia, które pozwoliło Science rozwiązać wiele problemów, raz nie mniej niejasne i nie mniej gorąco dyskutowane.
Należy zauważyć, że członkostwo Towarzystwa nie oznacza przyjęcia jakiejkolwiek szczególności wyjaśnienie zjawisk badanych, ani przekonania co do funkcjonowania w świecie fizycznym, innych sił niż te, uznane przez naukę.
Spotkania na czytanie i omówienie prac odbywają się okresowo, a następnie dokumenty produkowane z innych substancji, są, co do zasady, potem opublikowane w Proceedings.
Miesięcznik (od października do lipca włącznie) wydawany jest również członków i współpracowników.
Społeczeństwo składa się z: (a) Członkowie, którzy podpisują dwie gwinee rocznie, lub dokonać jednorazowej wpłaty dwudziestu gwinei (6); Associates, którzy wyznają jednej gwinei rocznie, lub dokonać jednorazowej wpłaty na dziesięć gwinei.
Wszystkich członków i współpracowników Towarzystwa wybierani są przez Radę. Mają prawo do swobodnego odbioru zarówno Postępowanie i Journal, do korzystania z książek w bibliotece Towarzystwa pokoje, do uczestnictwa we wszystkich posiedzeniach Towarzystwa, a także zaprosić znajomych do Walnego Zgromadzenia. Członkowie mają dodatkowy przywilej Wypożyczanie książek z biblioteki.

THE SOCIETY FOR PSYCHICAL RESEARCH was founded at the beginning of 1882 for the purpose of making an organised and systematic attempt to investigate various sorts of alleged or debateable phenomena—such as hypnotism, telepathy, coincidental apparitions and other hallucinations, and the so-called "physical phenomena" of spiritualism—which aieprimd facie inexplicable on any generally recognised hypothesis.
The aim of the Society is to approach these various problems without prejudice or prepossession of any kind, and in the same spirit of exact and unimpassioned inquiry which has enabled Science to solve so many problems, once not less obscure nor less hotly debated.
It must be noted that membership of the Society does not imply the acceptance of any particular explanation of the phenomena investigated, nor any belief as to the operation, in the physical world, of forces other than those recognised by Physical Science.
Meetings for the reading and discussion of papers are held periodically ; and the papers then produced, with other matter, are, as a general rule, afterwards published in the Proceedings.
A Monthly Journal (from October to July inclusive) is also issued to Members and Associates.
The Society consists of: (a) Members, who subscribe two guineas annually, or make a single payment of twenty guineas; (6) Associates, who subscribe one guinea annually, or make a single payment of ten guineas.
All Members and Associates of the Society are elected by the Council. They are entitled to the free receipt both of the Proceedings and of the Journal, to the use of Library books in the Society's rooms, to attend all the Meetings of the Society, and to invite friends to the General Meetings. Members have the additional privilege of borrowing books from the Library.
