DEAD SILENT SLUMBER- Entombed In The Midnight Hour symfoniczny Black metal w klimacie The Kovenant/Dimmu Borgir Hm, dark cover, an equally dark song-title, a remarkable logo, well, doesn't look like Happy Metal EDGUY-style, if you ask me. Let's turn around that thing... a long-haired guy with an e-axe in his hand, unfriendly look on his face, cartridge-belt, aha Hammerheart Records from the flattest temptation since there are coastal states. OK, deep-seated voice is guaranteed. And look, or rather hear, there, it comes around as expected, but still it is surprising as well. NAGLFAR-singer (OK, perhaps it's a bit far-fetched to call him a singer, but I'm not that far away) Jens Rydén with his solo-project DEAD SILENT SLUMBER thunders out of the speakers with a mix of Death Metal, slight Gothic-influences (no, no keyboard-whimpering or female rustling), clear song-structures and a crystal-clear production, respect! Who has made it to this point of the review should know that Jens from the far north of Sweden has neither incorporated the city of Gothenburg nor falls back into the stone age of Death Metal with blast-beat-walls of noise, but creates a very catchy mix of heavy, yet melodious riffs, keyboards spreading out a very dark atmosphere and partly very rough vocals that you'd like to hear more often. Tips? "In The Glare Of The Moon" (near the end Jens sings some vocal-lines that would refine every heavy Power Metal-band) and the ultra-dark title-track "Entombed In The Midnight Hour", which is (almost) entirely made up by acoustic guitars (plus a perfectly implemented electrical solo), a keyboard sounding like a violin, quiet, hoarse vocals and a frail (not thin) female vocals and creates a very oppressing atmosphere that nearly makes you feel the marshy ground of a graveyard at midnight underneath your feet...
